California has the worst air quality in the U.S. The state has eight of the ten most polluted cities and experiences some of the worst air pollution in the country, leading to thousands of deaths annually, according to Earth.Org. 4CA is a nonprofit dedicated to illuminating California’s toughest challenges — and sparking real understanding. To bring this mission to life, we built a clear, compelling website centered around the four forces shaping the state's future: Earth, Fire, Air, and Water. Each category dives into a critical issue — from land degradation and wildfires to air quality and water scarcity — connecting facts with feeling to inspire action. Through a streamlined, visually-driven experience, 4CA empowers users to explore the environmental realities facing California today. Below, you’ll find an overview of the process, the infographics, user personas, and design strategies that guided the project. Attached are both the desktop and mobile prototypes — each crafted to educate, engage, and ignite awareness in Californians and concerned citizens everywhere.

The State of California suffers from a variety of severe natural disasters which many may not know about, or are often overlooked.
-
A website in order to spread information and manage resources, chosen to delegate the issues into a quadfecta to make it easily digestible.
-
A “non-profit organization” was created with a fully prototyped desktop and mobile website with infographics on the dangers which face California.

After the 2025 Palisades and Altadena fires, this project is more important than ever. The entire city was shocked to see so many special places go up in flames, places including homes, churches, schools and more. California is such a culturally and environmentally rich state, but it suffers greatly from disasters. Although tragic, there is hope, especially highlighted in the way Los Angeles came together following the fires this past winter. California is beautiful, it should remain that way.
As mentioned, the website is divided up into four categories: earth, air, fire, and water. Below are some short videos of the website category. Or click here to view the fully prototyped version.
