Stellaris
Surveys show that 75% of Americans view beauty products as essential, with an average annual spending of $1,754. The beauty industry is even growing more, as Millennials and Gen Z view it as essential, and will spend even more on their routines. To capitalize on this, a beauty line from a cosmetics company that creates haircare and skincare products based on the stories of the constellations, with unique ingredients and real results. Haircare is another emerging trend within the beauty industry, so Stellaris offers both. Additionally, Gen Z views sustainability as a core pillar of importance in brands, and as many beauty companies are now offering refillable options, so will Stellaris. What makes this indie beauty brand different is the commitment to the story background; each product has a completely thought-out storyline and reasoning behind it, along with unique and interesting ingredients. Stellaris is for people who don’t view beauty as a routine, but a ritual, something they look forward to every day, who spend time bettering themselves and being the most beautiful version of themselves they can be.

Each product is inspired and derived from it’s corresponding constellation. For example, the Libra face wash is inspired by the Libra constellation. The story goes that the scales, the only inanimate object represented in the stars, are held by Themis (who wears a blindfold), the Goddess of justice. She is depicted next to Virgo, and represents the return to the golden age. Based off that story, the Virgo PH Hybrid & Regenerative Face Wash was made. In order to wash one’s face they must close their eyes (blindfold), PH is for balance (scales), it regenerates (Golden age + youth of Virgo) and is hybrid (represented by both scales and Themis).
Each product in the skincare line has an exterior box and an interior product. The box highlights the specific ingredients used. Inside the box, alongside the physical product, one can find a small handout (which provides more information) that emphasizes the connection to the constellation. The handout also talks about the zodiac sign associated with the constellation. This specific item also comes with a refill bottle, for sustainability and to limit one’s impact on the Earth.

E-commerce in the beauty industry is a rising force, and many tend to purchase all of their products online. Due to this, Stellaris has an online website where one can purchase the items and learn more about the brand as a whole. Stellaris targets young women who are passionate about beauty but seek a deeper, more meaningful connection to their skincare and haircare rituals. To effectively reach this audience, a strong social media presence is essential, complemented by real-world visibility—such as ads featured on platforms like the Cosmopolitan website or on one’s work transit. The brand’s advertising connection to horoscopes is designed to resonate with astrology enthusiasts, appealing to those who find significance in the stars and may be inspired to purchase products aligned with their zodiac sign.
